Dr. S. Murugan, IPS formerly INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE, presently Leading the charge in security as a Senior Security Consultant, his focus is on cyber and operational security. With an extensive background in the Indian Police service and a specialization in cybercrime, his contributions have been pivotal in modernizing police capabilities and combating complex security threats.
His recent work has involved both strategizing against terrorism and wildlife crimes and enhancing investigative techniques. With the help of a dedicated team, we have fortified defenses against high-tech crimes, ensuring public safety through a relentless commitment to service and integrityfor him to handle many cybercrime investigations cases.
In recognition of his contribution to the Police department, he was decorated with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty in the year 2005 and President of India Police Medal in the year 2013.
His academic qualifications will be interesting to know which ranges from Masters in Economics (M.A),Management (MBA) and Computer Applications (MCA) to a doctorate (PhD) in Cybercrime which focused on Frauds in Plastic Money from the University of Madras. His thirst to learn and disseminate technical details of cyber forensics led him to pursue CFCE (Certified Forensics Computer Examiner) from IACIS (International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist), USA. He holds a valid CFCE certification which is very rare among Indian Police Service officers. He is a member of International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist (IACIS). He is a coach for CFCE Students of IACIS. He is a mentor for UPSC/TNSPC aspirants.
He has been delivering guest lectures at premium educational institutes and corporate offices on cyber forensics, cyber security and self-improvement across the country. He is a co-author of a book CYBER FORENSICS published by Oxford University Press which is a text book for UG/PG students of engineering faculties for various Universities in India.
His second book is very unique SADURAGRI SIDDAR VANAM( சதுரகிரி சித்தர் வனம்) was released recently. This is a coffee Table book about the hill Saduragri located in Western Ghats near Srivilliputhur In Tamilnadu , which contains rich flora and fauna .
